Once upon a time, a lion was sleeping under a tree in the forest. A mouse lived in a hole nearby. When it came out, it saw a pile of soft grass-like things lying there like a mattress. Thinking “It would be fun to climb on it and play” the mouse climbed on it and jumped around happily. But what it climbed on was not grass, but a lion! Immediately, the lion woke up and roared loudly. The lion looked around and found the mouse. It caught the mouse in its paw and lifted it up, saying, “You mouse! How dare you! You ruined my sleep. I’m going to kill you!”
The mouse trembled with fear and said, “Please forgive me, Your Majesty! I didn’t see you. I thought it was grass, so I climbed up and played. Please let me go. I will help you someday and repay you.”
“What can you do for me? Alright! I’m letting you go out of mercy. Be careful!” The lion said and let it go.
One day, a hunter set a trap in the forest. The lion accidentally got caught in the trap. Unable to do anything, it started crying miserably. No one came to save it. Then, the mouse that came out of the hole heard the lion’s cry. It recognized the lion’s voice and ran to it and said, “Your Majesty! Don’t worry. I will help you.” It looked around and saw that the hunter was not nearby. Immediately, it went and gnawed the ropes of the trap to pieces. The lion came out happily and lifted the mouse up, kissed it, and let it go.
Moral of the story: There is no big or small when it comes to helping others.
