moral stories in english : The Cockerel and the Jewel

Telugu Flash News

English Moral Stories : Once upon a time, in a bustling farmyard, there lived a proud and flashy cockerel named Rufus. Rufus was known throughout the barnyard for his brilliantly colored feathers, his loud crowing, and his admiration for all things shiny and valuable. He was convinced that only the most extravagant and splendid things were worth his attention.

One sunny morning, while strutting around the yard, Rufus spotted a gleaming jewel lying in the dirt. It sparkled with a dazzling radiance, and its beauty immediately captured the cockerel’s heart. Rufus couldn’t believe his luck and thought, “This jewel is the most magnificent thing I’ve ever seen. It must be a sign of my great importance!”

Rufus decided to pick up the jewel and wear it around his neck. He paraded proudly before the other farm animals, crowing loudly and showing off his newfound treasure. He thought that the other animals would be in awe of his fabulous jewel and admire him even more.

However, as Rufus flaunted his jewel, the other animals didn’t seem particularly impressed. In fact, they were somewhat amused by the sight of a cockerel adorned with such a small, insignificant gem. The wise old owl, who had seen many wonders in his time, remarked, “Rufus, it’s a beautiful jewel, but remember, sometimes, simple is better. True beauty lies in the heart and character of a creature, not in the shiny objects it wears.”

Rufus, in his pursuit of vanity, had overlooked the simple joys of life. He had missed the pleasure of a warm sunbeam, the joy of sharing stories with friends, and the satisfaction of a well-earned meal. The jewel had become his obsession, blinding him to the beauty in everyday moments.

As days passed, Rufus couldn’t deny that the jewel had not brought him the happiness he had imagined. It had isolated him from his friends and made him the object of ridicule among the other animals. The jewel had become a burden, and Rufus finally realized that he had lost something more precious – the camaraderie and the simple pleasures of life.

One evening, Rufus decided to part with the jewel. He returned it to where he had found it in the dirt, and as he did, he felt a sense of relief and humility. The jewel, as dazzling as it was, couldn’t replace the warmth of friendship, the joy of shared laughter, and the love of the farmyard community.

From that day on, Rufus became a more humble and contented cockerel. He crowed with less arrogance, and instead of seeking external validation, he embraced the simple joys of life. He learned that sometimes, it’s the uncomplicated moments and the genuine connections that bring the most profound happiness.

The farmyard animals watched as Rufus transformed into a wiser and more amiable cockerel. They, too, learned the valuable lesson that sometimes, the simplest things in life are the most precious of all.
