After his recent experimental film “Gaami,” Vishwak Sen is quickly returning to screens with “Gangs of Godavari,” hitting theaters on May 17th. This short gap between releases might raise concerns, but there are reasons to believe it could work for Vishwak.
“Gaami,” made on a limited budget, targeted a niche audience and wasn’t meant for the mainstream. This gives “Gangs of Godavari,” an out-and-out commercial entertainer, a chance to stand out. The contrasting genres could prevent audience fatigue often seen with back-to-back releases from the same actor.
However, for “Gangs of Godavari” to succeed, releasing hit music videos beforehand is crucial to build pre-release buzz.
