Hyderabad opener Tanmay Agarwal created a new record in the Ranji Trophy Plate Division match against Arunachal Pradesh in Hyderabad. He scored a triple century in just 147 balls, setting a world record.
The knock included 33 fours and 21 sixes. With Tanmay’s batting, Hyderabad scored 529 for the loss of one wicket in 48 overs in their first innings.
Hyderabad captain Rahul Singh scored 185 off 105 balls. Tanmay Agarwal, who faced a total of 160 balls, was unbeaten on 323. This is the fastest triple century in first-class cricket in the world.
In 2017-18, South Africa’s Marco Marais scored a triple century in 191 balls. New Zealand’s Ken Rutherford, West Indies great Viv Richards, and Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Perera also scored triple centuries in 234, 244, and 244 balls respectively. Tanmay has now broken all of those records.
In addition, Tanmay also entered the record books as the player who scored the fastest double century in Indian cricket (in 119 balls) in the same match. The record of Ravi Shastri (in 123 balls), set 39 years ago, was also broken.
