Hyderabad witnessed another heist by the infamous “Chaddi Gang,” this time targeting a school. On Saturday night, two men wearing only undergarments (“chaddis” in Hindi) broke into an international school in Miyapur and stole Rs 7.85 lakh in cash. CCTV footage captured the burglary.
School officials from World One School in Hafeezpet reported the theft to Miyapur police. The report indicates the burglars broke the main door lock to gain entry. Police have registered a case and are investigating under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to housebreaking and theft.
Miyapur Police Inspector Durgaramalinga Prasad confirmed the involvement of the Chaddi Gang. The theft came to light on Sunday morning after reviewing CCTV footage. This isn’t the gang’s first rodeo. In August 2023, members of the Chaddi Gang were caught stealing gold and cash from gated communities in Hafeezpet and Ameenpur. Reports also suggest sightings in Andhra Pradesh last year.
