NIT Warangal Celebrates 65th Foundation Day with Grand Ceremony and Alumni App Launch

The NIT Warangal, celebrated its 65th Foundation Day in a grand ceremony at its campus. Dr. Komal Kapoor, the chief guest, praised NIT (National Institute of Technology) Warangal for being the first in the Regional Engineering College (REC) chain. He emphasized the crucial role of the Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad, in supporting India’s nuclear energy goals and its contribution to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi reflected on NIT Warangal’s history, with its foundation stone laid on October 10th, 1959, as the pioneering institution in the REC chain. He highlighted the institute’s commitment to research, innovation, and societal impact, including promoting startups and establishing a research park. Prof. Subudhi also mentioned the institute’s achievements, such as numerous research publications, a high placement rate, cleanliness campaigns, and a rooftop solar energy system.

Prof. D Srinivasacharya, Dean of Student Welfare, discussed the institute’s growth, offering a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. NIT Warangal achieved the status of “An Institute of National Importance” in August 2007.

The event featured the presentation of awards to alumni, faculty, and staff, including distinguished alumni awards for 2023 and recognition for faculty members’ contributions to teaching and research over the past four years.

In a significant announcement, the NIT Warangal Alumni Association launched the NITWAA App to connect the institute’s extensive alumni network worldwide and introduced a group health insurance plan for alumni and faculty members.
