Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair recently stated that having a good relationship with India is crucial for Canada. He mentioned this in an interview with ‘The West Block’ magazine, even though there’s an ongoing investigation into the murder of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Blair acknowledged that Nijjar’s murder has caused problems for Canada, but he also said that it’s Canada’s responsibility to protect its land, laws, and people. If the allegations about Indian secret agents are proven true, it will be a concern for Canada. However, Canada still places great importance on its Indo-Pacific strategy.
