With the massive pan-Indian success of his latest film, Jawan, young Tamil filmmaker Atlee has firmly established himself as one of the most sought-after directors in the country. For the past few months, there has been much anticipation surrounding Atlee’s next project, and the star director has yet to make an official announcement.
In a recent interview, Atlee shed light on his highly anticipated collaboration with Superstar Rajinikanth. Atlee expressed his immense admiration for Rajini, revealing that he was inspired to enter the film industry after watching Rajini’s iconic classic, Thalapathy. He later had the opportunity to work with Rajini on Enthiran (Robot) while assisting director Shankar.
Atlee disclosed that he has held several story discussions with Rajini and has presented various ideas for their potential collaboration. “I am yet to finalize the perfect script for Rajini sir due to time constraints. I aspire to create something that surpasses Baasha, a film that marked a pinnacle in Rajini sir’s career. I want to achieve that same level of excellence for him. Thalaivar fondly addresses me as Kanna (dear). He has always expressed his willingness to work under my direction,” Atlee added.
